Former Arsenal and Chelsea Cesc Fabregas has praised both his old clubs after their thrilling draw at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, picking out Arsenal’s bravery for battling back with 10 men.

A cracking London derby ended 2-2 and was full of incident, with David Luiz being sent off for Arsenal just 26 minutes in and Jorginho scoring the resulting penalty.

It was all Chelsea from there on in, but Gabriel Martinelli broke from a corner and capitalised on an N’Golo Kante slip to equalise just after the hour mark.

Cesar Azpilicueta eventually put the Blues back ahead with six minutes to play, after a barrage of pressure, but Hector Bellerin was the unlikely hero, producing a superb finish as the full-time whistle approached.

Remarkably, Arsenal managed just two shots compared to Chelsea’s 19, but the game ended level and Fabregas enjoyed every minute of it.

The Spaniard  tweeted: ‘Love games like this. Both teams went all in. Also very difficult to play that well and be that brave at the bridge with 10 men for the longest part of the game and being in behind twice. Well done @arsenal and @chelsea 👏🏻’

Fabregas made just over 300 appearances for Arsenal and just shy of 200 for Chelsea, although his period with the Blues was much more successful.

Cesc won two Premier League titles an FA Cup and the Europa League with Chelsea, while he claimed just one FA Cup during his spell at the Emirates.

The Spain international recently revealed that he held discussions over a move to Manchester United before he made the switch to Chelsea, although it was never close to getting done.

‘I wouldn’t say close but I did talk to David Moyes a couple of times,’ he tweeted.

The 32-year-old is now playing at Monaco in Ligue 1, where he has made 15 appearances this season, yet to score a goal.
