Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could barely hide his emotions after the Gunners were knocked out of the Europa League by Olympiacos after the most dramatic of finishes at the Emirates.

The Gunners took a 1-0 lead into the second leg and were overwhelming favourites to progress to the last-16 but Pape Abou Cisse scored shortly after half-time to level the tie and take it to extra-time.

After a goalless first half of extra-time, Aubameyang scored a sensational overhead kick which looked like enough to seal Arsenal’s passage through.

However, Olympiacos scored through Youssef El-Arabi in the 119th minute to swing the tie back in their favour and there didn’t appear to be enough time for Arsenal to comeback.

But one final chance fell kindly to Aubameyang and the Gabon international looked certain to find a dramatic winner, only to see his effort fizz narrowly past the post.

The final whistle was blown as Olympiacos took their goal kick and an emotional Aubameyang collapsed to the ground.

The former Dortmund striker looked close to tears after he equalised in extra time and he again appeared emotional at the final whistle.

Aubameyang has less than 18 months left to run on his Arsenal contract and he’s unwilling to sign a new deal at the club without the Gunners qualifying for the Champions League.

Winning the Europa League appeared to be the club’s best opportunity to do that and it all seemed too much for the Gabonese at full-time.
