Andrey Arshavin has heaped praise on Nicolas Pepe and predicted the forward will become one of the best players in the Premier League.

Pepe’s career at Arsenal has got off to a slow start after a club-record transfer move last summer, but the 24-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent this season.

Mikel Arteta has been tasked with getting the best out of him since Unai Emery was sacked and Gunners hero Arshavin is a massive fan of Pepe.

‘Pepe is a very talented player. He is very quick and a good finisher,’ he told 888Sport.

‘Already he has done well in part. Maybe not as much as he could but I see the potential and he will become one of the biggest stars in the Premier League.

‘He will be huge.’

Arsenal have been in decline since Arshavin left the club, but the Russian feels Arteta is the right man to take the Gunners forward.

Arshavin played under Arsene Wenger in his four years at the club and was team-mates with some of Arsenal’s most exciting players.

Now retired, Arshavin has revealed who was the best Gunner to play alongside.

‘I was lucky that I played alongside such good players at Arsenal. Players like Robin Van Persie, Samir Nasri, and Bacary Sagna,’ he said.

‘But for me my favourite player was Cesc Fabregas and why, because he was very smart and intelligent.

‘He could deliver a ball exactly at the point I wanted it and when he was at the top of his game he never lost the ball.

‘He always found solutions on the pitch.’
