Arsenal are set to offer £25million to Feyenoord to sign Orkun Kokcu this summer, reports say.

Mikel Arteta has identified the playmaker as the perfect addition to his squad and wants to make the 19-year-old his first permanent signing.

La Razon claim Sevilla are also tracking Kokcu and have sent representatives to speak to the youngster about a move to Spain.

Sevilla want to convince Kokcu his future lies in La Liga rather than the Premier League and the Spanish side regard him as their No.1 target to strengthen their midfield.

The interest from Sevilla appears to have forced Arsenal to react and the Gunners have hatched a plan to see off the competition.

Arsenal plan to outbid Sevilla and offer £25m for Kokcu, a figure the La Liga side will not be able to match.

Arteta is hoping for a busy summer transfer window, but his plans may be affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League has had to suspend action until April due to the outbreak and club chiefs are holding a meeting on Thursday to further discuss what is to be done.

It seems the postponed games will have to be played during the summer, which would presumably see the opening of the summer transfer window delayed.

Arsenal’s training complex is still shut after Arteta became the first high profile figure in English football to test positive for coronavirus.
