Dani Ceballos reportedly forced his way back into Mikel Arteta’s side after an impressive performance at Arsenal’s winter training camp in Dubai.

The Spaniard is back playing for Arsenal after a dismal spell following Arteta’s arrival last December.

Ceballos made his return to Premier League action against Newcastle last month, but there was a period of time when he tried to force his way out of Arsenal.

The 23-year-old told Arteta and Arsenal chiefs he wanted to terminate his loan spell in January and link up with Valencia back in La Liga.

Arsenal turned down that transfer request and the Athletic claim coaches and Arteta were surprised by what happened next.

When the transfer window closed, Ceballos threw himself into training and was a stand-out performer in Dubai during the winter break.

Arteta and his coaching staff were surprised by Ceballos’ renewed efforts and the midfielder is now a regular again.

Ceballos was lured to Arsenal by former coach Unai Emery and the Gunners will have to decide whether they want to try and sign the Spain international permanently.

Real quoted Arsenal £36million last summer and that figure may increase if Ceballos continues to impress.

Arteta is hopeful of a busy transfer summer, but if the club missed out on Champions League football, the budget will be significantly affected.

There is also the issue on the ongoing coronavirus which has forced the Premier League to suspend the season.

The summer transfer window may need to be adjusted if games have to be rescheduled and Premier league chiefs are set to meet next week to further discuss what should be done.
