Lucas Torreira in danger of missing the rest of Arsenal’s season after ankle injury blow

Lucas Torreira is in danger of missing the rest of Arsenal’s season after the club confirmed he could face up to 10 weeks on the sidelines.

Torreira was forced off the field of play in the Gunners’ FA Cup win over Portsmouth last Monday and it’s been revealed he has suffered a fractured ankle.

A statement on the club’s website read: ‘Right ankle. Sustained fracture to right ankle during Portsmouth (a) on March 2.

‘Still receiving continual assessments. Recovery process expected to take between eight to ten weeks.’

In more positive news Cedric Soares – signed on loan from Southampton in January – is set to return to full training this week.

Sead Kolasinac is set to return by the end of the month, while Shkodran Mustafi is being assessed ahead of the clash with Manchester City on Wednesday.

Calum Chambers remains a long-term absentee after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.
