Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has aimed another dig at his old side, saying Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey left the Gunners to ‘join a big club’.

This isn’t the first time the Spaniard has hit back at the north London outfit since he was relieved of his duties in November.

Less than three months after his departure, Emery questioned the attitude of the squad, saying some players ‘asked for more than what they were giving back’.

Gunners legend Ian Wright branded the former Sevilla manager as ‘delusional’ for suggesting that Arsenal were on a downward slope until he arrived and turned things around.

Now, the 47-year-old coach has bitten back again, he told TuttoJuve: ‘Ramsey decided to leave [Arsenal] and he joined a big club. Aaron will be very important for Juventus, as he shares their ambition.

‘I complimented him on his choice, because he picked a club where he can win a great deal. It’s an interesting challenge for him.’

Arsenal defender David Luiz has spoken only about how football is more fun under new boss Mikel Arteta.

The former Manchester City coach has enjoyed a promising start to his career at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners the only Premier League side yet to lose in 2020.

Emery is still searching for a new club since leaving north London, but suggests he is leaning towards a role in Italy.

He added: ‘I won’t rule out any country: England, France, Spain, where I already worked, or Italy, which I’ve never worked in before.

‘I did have some contact with several Italian clubs, but for one reason or another, it was not possible to work here. I am open to everything and keep a very close eye on Serie A.’
