Arsenal have been given hope of re-signing Dani Ceballos after Zinedine Zidane reportedly decided he would not feature in his plans at Real Madrid for next season.

Ceballos, who was loaned to the Gunners last summer, had recovered from injury to work his way back into Mikel Arteta’s plans before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The global health crisis means the 2019-20 campaign may well run over to the summer and Ceballos, who was due to return to Madrid in July, wants to see out the entire season at the Emirates.

Arsenal were resigned to the fact that Ceballos would not be returning to north London once the season finished, with the Spaniard desperate to break into the first-team at the Bernabeu.

But the Daily Star say Zidane has put Ceballos on a list of 12 players who will be surplus to requirements next season.

It is claimed that Real Madrid are currently looking to loan the 23-year-old out again, which has opened the door for Arteta and Arsenal.

But Spanish clubs Valencia and Real Betis are also in contact with Real Madrid over a loan deal for Ceballos.

Discussing his future this week, Ceballos said: ‘I finish my contract on June 30. I would have to play for Arsenal, I don’t know how [it would work].

‘The relationship of the future would be irresponsible for me to speak about. The most important thing will be to be important for my new team.

‘I came to Arsenal to be important and in less than a month it has disappeared [because of coronavirus].’
