Ilkay Gundogan has compared Raul Jimenez to Robert Lewandowski and tipped the Wolves and Mexico forward to join him at Manchester City.

Jimenez has scored 39 goals in 88 appearances for Wolves since signing from Benfica in 2018, with his performances attracting attention from a number of top clubs.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal and Spanish giants Real Madrid are all said to be considering moves for the 28-year-old, who had scored 19 goals and providing nine assists this season before the campaign was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Gundogan, who has won two Premier League titles at Manchester City, has hailed ‘world class’ Jimenez and said he has the ability to join him at the Etihad.

‘I think he has everything a world-class striker needs,’ Gundogan told ESPN FC.

‘For a striker he is so mobile, but also physically so good and talented technically on the ball. I can imagine him playing with us.

‘Maybe [he’s] not on that level yet, but he reminds me a little bit of [Robert] Lewandowski because I’ve played with him. In terms of style I think there is still a lot of potential.

‘It’s so difficult to predict but I think [Jimenez] would get a chance in every single top-six team and there’s a good possibility he could do well.’

At the end of last month, Wolves reportedly warned Manchester United and Arsenal that Jimenez would not be sold this summer.

Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his attacking options at the end of the season, while Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta is braced for the departure of star forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
