James Rodriguez is set to make a decision about his future at Real Madrid with three Premier League clubs vying for his signature, reports say.

Arsenal have long been linked with the Colombian playmaker, who has struggled to live up to his price tag and hype in Spain.

Rodriguez spent time on loan at Bayern Munich but was sent back to Real after the Germans declined the opportunity to sign him permanently.

The 28-year-old has played a bit part role with Real this season, making just 13 appearances, but his contract with Los Blancos runs until the summer of 2021.

Marca claim James is plotting an escape from Real and will pick between three Premier League clubs: Arsenal, Everton and Wolves.

Arsenal are long-term suitors and were the first to make contact over a transfer this summer.

Although James has turned down Arsenal before, he is appreciative of the Gunners’ interest in him.

Everton are also in the running to land James, with his former manager Carlo Ancelotti at the helm at the Toffees.

Ancelotti tried to sign James when he was still at Napoli and brought him to Bayern. The Italian’s influence has made Everton the initial frontrunners.

James’ best spell at Real was when Ancelotti was in charge at the Bernabeu and he may be able to recapture that form at Everton.

Wolves is also an option for James due to his agent’s close relationship with the club.

Jorge Mendes is an official advisor to the Premier League side and has great influence on the club’s transfer business.

James’ efforts to join a new team is likely to be hampered by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has forced most of the world to go into lockdown.

Premier League and La Liga football has been suspended and postponed games are set to be played during the summer, if the lockdown is lifted.

That could see the transfer window extended or moved to a different date and UEFA are holding talks this week about the transfer market issue.
