Mikel Arteta told to ask for Arsenal star Kieran Tierney’s advice on £30m target

Charlie Nicholas believes Arsenal ‘would be crazy’ not to ask Kieran Tierney about his former Celtic teammate and summer target Odsonne Edouard.

The striker has been in scintillating form for Neil Lennon’s side this campaign, scoring 28 goals in all competitions, and has been linked to a move to north London.

Celtic are reportedly demanding £30million for the 22-year-old, which would see him eclipse Tierney as the most expensive export from the Scottish top flight.

The left-back’s debut season has been hampered by injuries, making just five league appearances so far this season, but Gunners legend Nicholas believes he could offer some vital advice on Edouard.

He told Sky Sports: ‘If Arsenal are genuinely interested in Edouard, it would be a crazy scenario if Mikel Arteta and his staff were not questioning Tierney about the player’s qualities.

‘When Tierney’s fit, he’s very much an attacking full-back. He could see Edouard’s movement, and he could drill balls into his feet.

‘He got quite a lot of assists for Edouard during his time at Celtic, knows the quality of the player and he’s improved this season.’

Arsenal’s star strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette could both possibly be heading for the exit door at the end of the season.

Aubameyang has just a year left on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, and is reportedly the subject of interest of Manchester United and Barcelona.
