Arsenal have reportedly told agents that Alexandre Lacazette is more likely to depart from the Emirates this summer than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners’ star strikers are both facing uncertain futures at the club with Aubameyang’s contract due to expire in 2021 and Lacazette’s just a year later.

In an interview with Telefoot earlier this week, top scorer Aubameyang challenged the club to prove to him that sticking around is the best option as he nears the latter stages of his career.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Manchester City on Wednesday night, Mikel Arteta reassured the striker that he is a key part of his side’s plans to move forward and is ‘pretty positive’ that the ‘right’ agreement can be reached for all parties.

Meanwhile, Lacazette, who has struggled for goals this season, has been linked with a move away from Arsenal with Atletico Madrid reportedly an interested party.

And according to The Telegraph, when discussing prospective summer plans with representatives, the Gunners have made it clear that the Frenchman is more likely to be sold than Aubameyang.

Potential summer signings, such as Gent’s Jonathan David, are waiting to see if Arsenal’s key strikers remain at the club before they decide on making a move to north London.

The emergence of Eddie Nketiah has also brought about a selection dilemma for Mikel Arteta since the 21-year-old was recalled early from his loan spell at Leeds United.

Before the season was suspended over the coronavirus crisis, Nketiah started three of the Gunners’ last four Premier League games, scoring one goal.

The youngster will continue his challenge with Lacazette for the No.9 spot over Arsenal’s ten remaining league matches.
