Mikel Arteta has shuffled his pack for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday afternoon, making five changes while Mesut Ozil was also recalled to the matchday squad.

Arsenal were thumped 3-0 by Manchester City when the Premier League resumed on Wednesday night and Arteta has decided changes needed to be made.

Bernd Leno, Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi, Mateo Guendouzi, Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have all kept their places in the starting XI.

But Rob Holding, Sead Kolasinac, Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette were all handed starting berths.

Ozil is joined on the bench by academy graduate Zach Medley, with Gabriel Martinelli, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah providing attacking options for Arteta on the bench.

Brighton are yet to play a match since the league restarted, with manager Graham Potter selecting Neal Maupay to lead the attack.

Ozil being dropped from the squad was a huge talking point ahead of Arsenal’s defeat to Man City – something Mikel Arteta explained away as a ‘tactical decision’ after the match.

‘I have been very open with Mesut from day one,’ said Arteta.

‘Since I joined I thought that he was fit and he was willing and he wanted to perform at the level that he can do.

‘He has played every game with me I think. So that’s it. The moment I see that he is ready again to do that, I will treat him like anybody else.

‘I think I have been more than fair with him and I think he has responded in many games the way I want. That’s it.’
