Orkun Kokcu has played down speculation that he could be joining Arsenal this summer and is not in a ‘hurry’ to secure a move away from Feyenoord.

According to reports in the Netherlands, the Gunners are expected to table a bid for the 19-year-old, who Mikel Arteta views as a perfect fit for his midfield.

The Turkey youth international has impressed in his breakthrough season in the Eredivisie, registering two goals and four assists in 22 games.

But with the Dutch top tier cancelled over the coronavirus crisis, Kokcu is ignoring any transfer talk and fully focused on getting himself fit for the next campaign.

‘It doesn’t really matter to me, frankly. My father and my agent are busy with that,’ Kokcu told RTV Rijnmond.

‘I try to isolate myself from that. That works fine. Fortunately, I am a footballer and not an agent.

‘I want to make the best of it next season and want to be as fit as possible when the competition starts again.

‘For now I’m only working with Feyenoord. I have a contract until 2023, so I’m not in a hurry.

‘When the moment arrives and I feel good about it, we’ll see.’

With Mikel Arteta’s side currently in ninth place in the Premier League table, their transfer business may be dictated by whether or not they can qualify for European competition,

In an ideal situation, the Spaniard reportedly wants to add a centre-back, right-back, midfielder and replacement striker if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette leave this summer.
