Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both got back to scoring ways during Arsenal’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton Athletic.

Arsenal thrashed Lee Bowyer’s Championship relegation strugglers 6-0, with Eddie Nketiah stealing the show with a second-half hat-trick.

But Arsenal’s experienced first-choice attackers both made their mark on proceedings, to put Arsenal 2-0 up before half-time.

Lacazette was the first to get on the scoresheet.

A long ball forward from David Luiz was chested down by Ainsley Maitland-Niles into the path of the onrushing Lacazette.

There was still plenty to do for the France international but he sent a rasping right-footed drive from outside the area into the bottom corner.

He grinned from ear to ear as he celebrated with his Arsenal team-mates, including Matteo Guendouzi, and jogged back to the centre circle.

It wasn’t long before Aubameyang joined him in getting among the goals.

The Gabon international picked up the ball on the left-hand side and ran straight at the Charlton defence.

As they backed off, Aubameyang shaped to shoot and showed great poise despite slipping to bend the ball into the far corner.

It was a good run out for Arsenal who will be back in Premier League action against defending champions Manchester City a week on Wednesday.
