Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has opened the door to a move to Arsenal after admitting it was ‘amazing’ to hear of the Gunners’ interest last summer.

The Ivory Coast forward was heavily linked to a move to the Emirates last summer but Palace were unhappy with Arsenal’s valuation of Zaha and turned down two bids in the region of £40m for the winger.

Peculiarly, Arsenal signed Nicolas Pepe for £72m after failing to come to an agreement with Palace and Zaha stayed at Selhurst Park against his wishes after failing to land a move to Everton late on in the window.

Zaha’s failed to recapture his form this term but Palace are unlikely to demand the £75m they were demanding 12 months ago if clubs come calling this summer.

And the winger has appeared to open the door to an offer from Arsenal by admitting it was ‘amazing’ to hear off their interest and that he’s desperate to win trophies.

‘It was nice. Supporting them and having them wanting you at the same time, leaves you thinking: ‘this is amazing’,’ Zaha told Rio Ferdinand.

‘But things never worked out so you just have to move on as quickly as possible. I was thinking this may happen and my family was saying ‘wow it’s Arsenal,’ but yeah it just didn’t work out.’

‘I’m 27, trophies is what it’s all about. If there’s opportunities for me to win trophies then 100 per cent’.

However, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is set to be handed a modest budget this summer and that could be impacted further if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The Spaniard’s primary objective is dealing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future.

The Gabon international has less than 13 months to run on his deal at the club and he’s intimated that he will not sign a new deal.

Arsenal must therefore decide if they’re to cash in on the forward this summer or allow him to walk away on a free in 2021.
