Said Benrahma admitted he was ‘flattered’ to see himself linked with a summer move to Arsenal and Chelsea.

The London duo have been tipped to make a surprise move for the Championship winger, who has played a key role in Brentford’s promotion push this season.

Benrahma, 24, was asked about the transfer links and admitted it gave him extra confident to know big clubs wanted to sign him.

He said: ‘I was really flattered [to see myself linked with those clubs], but, at the same time, I am so focused about getting out of the Championship with Brentford that I do not pay too much attention. But it gives me confidence.’

Brentford will seal their Premier League status if they better West Brom’s result against QPR when they take on Barnsley this Wednesday.

The Bees had been flying before slipping up to Stoke in their last game – especially considering West Brom were also beaten.

A point separates the two sides and Leeds claimed the other automatic promotion spot when they clinched the Championship title on Sunday.

Benrahma is desperate to make history with Brentford amid the swirling transfer speculation.

‘I don’t look at it as my destiny, but it has always been a target of mine to play in the Premier League and I really wish to play in the Premier League with Brentford,’ Benrahma said.

‘It would be magnificent for Brentford to be in the Premier League because it would be the first time and we have really been working hard on it.’

Brentford signed Benrahma from Nice two years ago and the forward would likely command a fee of around £35million.

Benrahma has scored 17 times in the Championship this season, providing eight assists for his team-mates in a superb individual campaign for the Algerian.
