Bukayo Saka has been rewarded for an outstanding breakthrough season by earning a new squad number reflecting his position as a first team regular.

The teenager made his first team debut under Unai Emery last season but has made significant strides under the interim management of Freddie Ljungberg, before Mikel Arteta took up the reigns and utilised the versatile academy graduate in a number of different positions.

Saka has featured at full-back and as a wing-back but is nominally a winger and reportedly wanted assurances over his future role under Arteta before he ended months of speculation by signing a new long-term contract earlier this month.

And, indicative of his standing, the 18-year-old will wear the No.7 shirt next season, inheriting the jersey from Henrikh Mkhitaryan whose move to Roma will become a permanent deal at the end of the season.
