Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has warned Matteo Guendouzi that ‘some things have to change’ if he’s to regain his place in the first team squad.

The Frenchman was left out of Arsenal’s squad for the 4-0 win against Norwich on Thursday, which is the third fixture in a row in which he’s not been named in Arteta’s 20-man squad.

Guendouzi has not featured since the Gunners’ 2-1 defeat to Brighton a fortnight ago, where the Frenchman grabbed Seagulls striker Neal Maupay by the throat after the full time whistle.

Speculation has been rife since then that the Frenchman could depart the Emirates and Arteta has warned Guendouzi that he must see a change in him if he’s to be restored into the squad.

Asked why Guendouzi was left out again, Arteta told reporters: ‘It is the same reasons as last week.

‘Some things have to change and nothing has changed.’

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as the Gunners earned their third straight victory in all competitions.

The Gabon international opened the scoring before adding another following Granit Xhaka’s strike.

Cedric added a fourth late on as the full-back scored from long-range on his debut.
