Juventus are interested in signing Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer and the north London club will consider a player-plus-cash offer, according to reports.

Although Lacazette has featured prominently under Mikel Arteta, he only has two years remaining on his current contract and the club’s hierarchy have identified him as a player they could cash in on to raise transfer funds.

Arsenal’s priority this summer has been to wrap up a contract extension for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and once he has put pen to paper they will shift their attention to selling Lacazette.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Juventus are keeping tabs on the French striker and are considering making a move, with the side in need of more goals in their squad.

While Cristiano Ronaldo netted 31 times in Serie A last season, their second highest scorer, Paulo Dybala, netted a rather more modest 11 times.

Gonzalo Higuain scored eight times and is expected to be offloaded this summer, with just one year to run on his contract, and Juve’s next highest scorer after the Argentine was defender Matthijs de Ligt with four goals.

Arsenal are prepared to do a deal for Lacazette at the right price – reportedly valuing him at around £30million – but would also entertain a swap deal with Juve.

The Old Lady’s finances are very tight this summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis and club chiefs have previously spoken of the need to be creative in the transfer market and the likelihood of doing swap deals.

Two players who will almost certainly be on the table in any talks over a swap deal for Lacazette are Brazilian winger Douglas Costa – who has also been linked with Manchester United – and centre-back Cristian Romero, who occupies a position Arteta is keen to strengthen.

While Lacazette’s work rate and performances have largely pleased the Arsenal manager, he only netted 10 goals and recorded four assists in a somewhat underwhelming season and the club’s hierarchy may feel it is prudent to cash in on a player who will turn 30 on his next birthday.
