Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once again has Arsenal fans on the edge of their seats over his contract situation, insisting that ‘hopefully great news for everybody’ is around the corner.

The Gabon international once again proved his worth as one of the Gunners’ most vital players, winning Arsenal’s Player of the Season award for his 27 goals across all competitions.

However, the 31-year-old’s contract has less than 12 months remaining, prompting widespread speculation that he could be sold this summer.

Aubameyang is reportedly ‘extremely close’ to committing his future to the club with a long-term deal, and has done little to temper Arsenal fans’ excitement over that prospect.

In an Instagram Live session with his brother, Willy, the forward said: ‘Guys, have a good night, enjoy and hopefully great news for everybody.’

This isn’t the first time Aubameyang has teased his supporters, previously ‘liking’ a social media post begging him to sign and simply dropping an hour glass emoji on his Twitter page.

New Gunners signing WIllian is also hoping the prolific striker will remain at the Emirates to help Mikel Arteta’s side challenge for the Premier League.

‘I joined Arsenal because we can challenge for titles but Pierre will be a big part of the plan,’ the Brazilian told SunSport.

‘He has to stay – it is very important to me. This is a guy who gets 25-30 goals a season and we have to keep a player like that.

‘He’s one of the best players in our team and somebody I want to be making chances for.’
