Joelson Fernandes’s agent has denied the Sporting Lisbon star is in talks with Arsenal over a move to the Premier League.

Kia Joorabchian has been described as the driving force behind Arsenal’s efforts to sign the 17-year-old, who is a rising star in Portugal and has also been linked with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal have close ties with Joorabchian, who has already secured deals at Arsenal for his clients David Luiz and Cedric Soares.

Former Chelsea winger Willian is also expected to join Arsenal in the coming days, but Joorabchian denied he was trying to get Fernandes to sign for the Gunners as well.

He told TalkSport about the rumours: ‘It is so untrue. We haven’t even mentioned him to Arsenal.’

Fernandes has a £40million release clause, but Arsenal are reportedly hopeful of lowering the asking price by offering one of their players in part exchange.

While Arsenal may not be pushing to sign Fernandes, the Gunners have agreed personal terms with Brazilian attacker Willian to join the club on a free transfer.

Fans are waiting impatiently for Arsenal to officially announce the deal, but Joorabchian refused to confirm his player was on the way to the Emirates.

‘He had a fantastic seven years at Chelsea,’ Joorabchian said.

‘He had a fantastic relationship with Frank [Lampard] and respected him a lot.

‘For now, I can’t say, but we know where he’s going and it will be announced soon.’
