Kieran Tierney says he will be ‘absolutely buzzing’ if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang commits his future to Arsenal by signing a new deal.

Aubameyang, who has scored 71 goals in 110 matches for Arsenal, has entered the final year of his current contract at the Emirates.

It appeared as though the Gunners may look to sell Aubameyang this summer to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time, but Arsenal are now increasingly confident he will put pen to paper on a new deal.

Asked about Aubameyang potentially staying at the Emirates, Tierney told Sky Sports: ‘Hopefully man, hopefully!

‘He’s brilliant, brilliant for the team, brilliant for me. He’s an absolute joy.

‘One of the best guys, one of the most humble guys as well.

‘He’s a great captain, leads by example and if we can sign him I’ll be absolutely buzzing to be honest.’

Gabon international Aubameyang was asked about his future following Arsenal’s victory over Liverpool in the Community Shield and said: ‘We’re going to see these coming days.

‘Today we get the trophy and that’s it. We are improving. There is still work to do but I’m really happy and it’s an exciting time to be an Arsenal player.’

Last month, another Arsenal player – new signing Willian – also urged Aubameyang to stay in north London.

The former Chelsea forward said: ‘I joined Arsenal because we can challenge for titles but Pierre will be a big part of the plan.

‘He has to stay – it is very important to me. This is a guy who gets 25-30 goals a season and we have to keep a player like that.

‘He’s one of the best players in our team and somebody I want to be making chances for.’
