Chelsea hero Frank Leboeuf has dismissed Manchester United’s top-four chances and says Arsenal will also struggle to secure a Champions League place in the Premier League this season.

Everton are the only club to take maximum points from their first four games of the 2020-21 season, with Aston Villa also still unbeaten and on the same number of points as Leicester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Tottenham are currently sixth, having smashed inconsistent Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday, while bid-spending Chelsea are seventh.

Man United and Chelsea finished third and fourth respectively last season – behind champions Liverpool and runners-up Manchester City – but Lebouef cannot see the Red Devils replicating that position this term.

The Chelsea and France hero also doubts Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will finish in the top four despite their promising start to the season and recent signing of Thomas Partey.

Asked who is more likely to finish in the top-four out of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham, Leboeuf told ESPN: ‘Maybe none of them, if Everton, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea keep going!

‘With what we have seen, I don’t see Manchester United [finishing in the top-four]. If they don’t react or change things, it’s between Arsenal and Tottenham.

‘Let’s say Tottenham. What I’ve seen from them, I would put them in the top-four.’

Liverpool hero Steve Nicol added: ‘There’s not that much separating them all to be honest.

‘Most of us had Manchester United fourth or fifth before the season and we’re only four games in.

‘On present form, I can’t see that much change coming at Manchester United. Arsenal have got a new strength about them.

‘It’s between Arsenal and Spurs for me. If you go on who can take a step forward this year, then it’s not Manchester United because they look like they’re going the other way.

‘Arsenal have just signed Partey, who’s a beast in the middle of the park. Spurs have made good signings as well so it seems like Manchester United would be outside of that.’
