The Europa League group stages return on Thursday evening, with a host of British and Irish teams involved.

Premier League representatives Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester are joined by Scottish duo Celtic and Rangers and Irish outfit Dundalk in the group phase of the second tier of competitive European football.

Former Liverpool, Manchester United and England striker Michael Owen cast his eye over the fixtures and has given his predictions.

He is expecting Arsenal to get their campaign off to a winning start in Vienna.

‘The Gunners are back on the European trail as they travel to Austria to play Rapid Vienna,’ Owen told Bet Victor.

‘Mikel Arteta is most likely to make some changes here, and with his side playing well, I can see the Londoners coming away with maximum points.’

Celtic vs AC Milan: AC Milan win

While their north London rivals travel abroad, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur welcome another Austrian side, LASK, in the capital.

‘Spurs come into their first European fixture of the season after an indifferent start to their domestic campaign,’ added Owen.

‘Jose Mourinho’s men will see this as a more than achievable 3 points, and possibly more significantly, as a springboard into their next Premier League fixture against Burnley.

‘On their day LASK can be a tricky side to play against, but I feel Tottenham will have too much here.’

In the glamour tie of the round, Celtic welcome Italian giants and Serie A leaders AC Milan to Glasgow.

‘Serie A table-toppers AC Milan travel to Celtic Park in tremendous form,’ said Owen. ‘The Italians have made an excellent start domestically and will be looking to extend that here.

‘Celtic will still be licking their wounds after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Rangers, and without the noise of the home crowd, I can see Milan taking full advantage.’

Meanwhile, Leicester, who suffered defeat to Aston Villa in their last Premier League outing, will face Ukraine’s Zorya Luhansk to the East Midlands.

‘The Foxes welcome Zorya to the King Power looking to shake off a couple of poor domestic results,’ said Owen.

‘Jamie Vardy could return here, and if Leicester can rediscover their early season form, I think they’ll take the points.’

For Dundalk and Rangers, who take on Molde and Standard Liege respectively, Owen is backing them to pick up a point.
