Thomas Partey insists he is ‘prepared’ to make his Arsenal debut against Manchester City this weekend and says he ‘likes’ to play in big matches.

Mikel Arteta’s side return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to the Etihad to face Pep Guardiola’s Man City.

The Gunners have won three of their four league matches so far this season – only losing to Premier League champions Liverpool.

Manchester City, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with newly-promoted Leeds United before the international break, a week after they were thumped 5-2 by Leicester City.

Partey wants to be involved for Arsenal on Saturday and says he will be ‘prepared’ to play as Arteta looks for success against the team he used to coach.

But Arsenal’s deadline day signing insists the final decision will be made by Arteta and says his presence will depend on how quickly he gets up to speed with his new team-mates.

Asked whether he expects to be involved against Manchester City, Partey said: ‘Well, it’s the decision of Mikel.

‘I just arrived. For me, I’m prepared but I need to get used to the style of play before I can play.

‘I like to play in the big matches, but it all depends on the coach and whether he wants me to play on Saturday or not.

‘It depends on him. I need to get used to the squad and then train with the squad before we can see what we will happen.

‘I think there is no pressure on me. I like to challenge myself, I like new challenges and it’s all about learning fast, learning quickly how it goes and you just get used to it and everything works.’

Partey had developed into a key player for Atletico Madrid before his move to Arsenal, helping the Spanish club win the Europa League and reach the Champions League final.

On his transfer to the Emirates, the Ghana midfielder added: ‘I feel so happy.

‘I already feel part of the family because the fans have received me, everybody is saying nice things about me and, you know, to be received like this is a great feeling.

‘This a great club, it is one of the biggest clubs in Europe and it is a club that deserves to be aspiring for greater things and I think it doesn’t happen in a day, we have to work hard to make sure we are back to where we belong.

‘I want to make everyone feel happy.’
