Harry Kane says he has absolutely no intention of ever returning to Arsenal after Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan tried to persuade the England skipper to rejoin the red half of north London.

The Tottenham striker was on the show to encourage fans to wear a football shirt on Friday to support the Bobby Moore Fund for cancer, though Morgan could not resist teasing Kane over his former allegiance.

Before the 27-year-old moved to White Hart Lane some 16 years ago he was actually on the books of Arsenal as a schoolboy, though the Gunners released him which prompted a move to their north London rivals.

Morgan trolled Kane with an infamous picture of the then eight-year-old celebrating Arsenal’s Premier League title win in 2004 sporting a red shirt – and even copying Freddie Ljungberg’s dyed red hair.

‘Now your history with football shirts is quite complicated isn’t it,’ said Morgan.

‘Because when you were a kid – as every Gooner knows – you were a proud Arsenal fan. What happened to you Harry Kane?’

Kane replied: ‘Well, I played for Arsenal when I was younger and unfortunately for them they let me go.

‘So I’ve been at Tottenham since I was 11 years old and reaping the rewards of that now.’

Asked if he was ‘itching to get back to his roots’, Kane shut down Morgan’s attempts to get him back to Arsenal, saying: ‘Absolutely not! No, we’re in a good spot at the moment so I’m happy [at Spurs].’

Morgan continued his charm offensive later in the segment, trying to convince Kane to wear an Arsenal shirt for Friday’s fundraiser and pleading with him to come back to the club to partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

‘We could always use this shirt Harry, which is the one you used to wear when you played for Arsenal and you were an Arsenal fan,’ the GMB host added.

‘That’s the shirt I want you wearing on Friday Harry Kane, and I want you back in that shirt next season. You and Aubameyang up front would be invincible!’

Kane laughed off Morgan’s remarks, though had a little barb back of his own when the lifelong Arsenal fan claimed he ‘would not be able to bear the torment’ of seeing Spurs win the Premier League title.

‘I know what that would do to you,’ laughed Kane. ‘That’s extra motivation for me, don’t worry about that!’
