Dominik Szoboszlai enhanced his burgeoning reputation with a stunning solo goal which booked Hungary’s place at next summer’s delayed European Championships.

Iceland were in the driving seat with two minutes remaining, but Loic Nego cancelled out Gylfi Sigurdsson’s opener, before Szoboszlai’s made his matchwinnig contribution deep into injury time.

The RB Salzburg playmaker picked up the ball just inside his own half, drove past three opposition players and bent a low right-footed shot beyond goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson and in off the far post to spark scenes of jubilation.

Szoboszlai has earned rave reviews for the Austrian side and looks set to follow the likes of Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino, who both earned big money moves away from the club last January to Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, respectively.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the 20-year-old, who has scored seven goals already for club and country this season, but reports claim he is increasingly likely to move to Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig in January, while Real Madrid are credited with an interest by AS.

Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled for goals this season, particularly in the Premier League where they have gone over four hours without finding the net from open play.

Summer signing Willian has failed to hit the ground running, while Arteta appears to remain unconvinved that Nicolas Pepe merits a regular place in his side. Alexandre Lacazette is woefully out of form.

Even captain and talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has struggled of late and Arsenal fans are convinced Szoboszlai is the answer to their attacking issues following last night’s heroics…
