Arsenal are set to be without midfielder Bukayo Saka for the visit of Wolves to the Emirates this weekend.

The 19-year-old was forced off in the dying minutes of the Gunners’ 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday after a challenge from Stuart Dallas.

Saka had only been on the pitch for less than half an hour, having emerged from the substitutes bench on the hour-mark.

Mikel Arteta feared Saka had sustained a long-term injury but while there was good news that the midfielder could return sooner than expected, the Spaniard is not expecting to have the England international available for Sunday’s game against Wolves.

‘It’s very doubtful [that he’ll be back for the weekend],’ said Arteta.

‘We have a few players in contention. He’s been in a lot of pain for the last few days so I cannot say today that he’s going to be fit.

‘We’ll have to assess what happens the day before the game against Wolves. But we have other players fit and whether he’s fit or not, we’ll try to find the right solutions for our attacking players to prepare for the game against Wolves.’

Arsenal can confirm their progress to the last-32 of the Europa League with a win against Molde in Norway tonight.

Arteta has taken an inexperienced squad to Scandinavia and there’s only likely to be one or two survivors from Sunday’s draw against Leeds.

Nicolas Pepe is expected to start, despite being sent off shortly after half-time against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
