Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was full of praise for former team-mate Sergio Ramos after the defender scored his 100th goal for the club.

Ramos put Zinedine Zidane’s side 2-0 up against Inter Milan in the Spanish capital after heading home from a Toni Kroos cross.

The Spain international joined Madrid from Sevilla in 2005 and he’s hit double digits in three of his 15 seasons for the club, despite only taking over penalty duties in 2018 when Cristiano Ronaldo departed.

Ramos spent three of his years at the Bernabeu alongside Ozil and the German was quick to play tribute to the 34-year-old after his record-breaking goal.

‘Really strong performance from Inter so far but Sergio Ramos [simply the world’s best defending striker – 100 goals for Real,’ wrote Ozil.

‘And my boy Benz [Benzema] scoring as always.’

Ramos’ goal put Real 2-0 up but Inter hit back through Lautaro Martinez to half the deficit before half-time.

Ivan Perisic then equalised for Antonio Conte’s men with 20 minutes to go in Madrid.

Rodrygo put the home side back in front with nine minutes left after firing home from the edge of the box.
