Roy Keane has accused Arsenal players of disrespecting Mikel Arteta by referring to the Gunners boss by his first name.

The north London side edged a 1-0 victory against the Red Devils on Sunday night as they beat their rivals at Old Trafford in the league for the first time in 14 years.

Arteta’s tactical plan was implemented perfectly as Arsenal piled the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side by pressing them high up the pitch.

The Gunners finally broke the deadlock in the second half as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the spot after Paul Pogba gave away a penalty for a foul on Hector Bellerin.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp praised the Arsenal captain for talking glowingly about Arteta in an interview following Sunday’s victory.

Redknapp said: ‘In terms of the players respecting him, I like to listen to players and how they talk about their manager and I think it’s really important with Aubameyang saying, “I respect what we’re trying to do, we like to learn from him”.

‘So the details that he’s trying to implement are certainly working for all the players and it goes a long way when you see that the players are buying into it.’

However, clearly referring to Aubameyang calling his manager by his first name, United legend Keane claimed the Gunners players lacked respect for the Spaniard.

‘They didn’t show him respect when they called him by his name, Mikel,’ Keane retorted.

‘He’s the manager, the boss, the gaffer. That’s respect.

‘Not Mikel, he’s not his mate.’
