Bukayo Saka insists the Arsenal squad is fully united in its attempts to arrest their slide towards the Premier League relegation zone.

Mikel Arteta’s struggling side head into Wednesday’s Premier League game against Southampton in 15th place and will be looking to avoid an almost unprecedented fifth successive home defeat.

The north London club were forced to dismiss reports earlier this week that there had been a total breakdown in the relationship between Arteta and his most experienced defender David Luiz and Saka is adamant the players are confident a return to form is imminent.

He told Stadium Astro: ‘Arsenal fans know that I always give my all for the club. When I’m on the pitch I’m always doing my best to make them happy and repay the faith that they’ve shown in me and all the love they’ve shown to me.

‘As a team we’re working together on the pitch I can tell you that, being really honest we’re all working so hard and we all want to make this right. We just need to keep focus, keep going.

‘These games we should be winning and I feel like when we get one win we’ll pick up a few and build momentum. Times are going to change we’ll start winning games 100%.’

The form of the versatile teenager has been one of the few encouraging aspects of a tumultuous season so far with his displays rewarded with a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad ahead of his Three Lions debut.

Saka has been used in several positions by his managers at both club and international level but it is on the wing where he admits he feels most at home.

He added: ‘I like playing on the wing, that’s where I’ve grown up playing really. But since I’ve come into play in the first team I’ve played in so many different positions that I’ve liked.

‘I haven’t really played much in those positions and I’ve seen that I can play them I’m still excited to play in new positions and keep learning all the time.’
