Bukayo Saka has promised Arsenal fans the club will arrest their current poor run of form after they failed to win at home in the Premier League for the fifth straight match against Southampton.

The north Londoners went behind early on to a lovely dinked finish from former player Theo Walcott but responded through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though had to dig in to see out the 1-1 draw after Gabriel was shown a second yellow card.

Arsenal again gave a lacklustre, low-tempo performance but Saka was a bright spark on an otherwise disappointing evening, going on a mazy run that produced the equaliser.

The teenager knows full well that Arsenal are not performing at the level expected of them, apologising to fans, but he is confident they can turn things around.

Saka tweeted a message to supporters saying, ‘You deserve more Arsenal fans’, and then fronted up the media, doubling down on his message.

‘Arsenal fans know that I always give my all for the club,’ he told Amazon Prime Video.

‘When I’m on the pitch I’m always doing my best to make them happy and repay the faith that they’ve shown in me and all the love they’ve shown to me.’

He continued: ‘As a team we’re working together on the pitch I can tell you that we’re all working so hard and we all want to make this right.

‘We just need to keep focus, keep going.

‘These games we should be winning and I feel like when we get one win we’ll pick up a few and build momentum.’

The result means Arsenal remain in 15th place in the Premier League, 10 points adrift of the top four and just six above the relegation places.
