David Luiz lost his cool with Mohamed Elneny on several occasions during Arsenal’s defeat to Everton on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now without a win in six Premier League games after they were beaten 2-1 by Carlo Ancelotti’s men at Goodison Park.

And the mood in Arsenal’s dressing room appears to have hit a new low as players argued with each other during another disjointed performance.

David Luiz’s frustrations got the better of him after just 16 minutes as he berated Elneny after receiving a pass from the Egyptian midfielder.

The Brazilian defender was standing in the left-back position and had signalled for Elneny to advance with the ball but the midfielder instead opted to play a sideways pass.

David Luiz, who had no immediate options ahead of him, was forced turn and play the ball back to goalkeeper Bernd Leno, and the Brazilian angrily gestured and shouted at Elneny for his pass.

David Luiz continued to cut a frustrated figure on the pitch as he continued to wave his Arsenal midfielders up the pitch and before the half-time break the Brazilian once again reprimanded Elneny for his reluctance to pass the ball forward.

The Gunners were trailing at half time as Nicolas Pepe’s penalty had cancelled out Rob Holding’s own goal before Yerry Mina’s head put Everton back in front.

And Arteta admitted after the game that Arsenal’s opening 45 minutes was poor.

‘I think in the first half, in the first phase, it was slow,’ said the Arsenal manager.

‘Whether it was because the players were a little bit restricted or because they don’t want to make a mistake or just because we felt that it was comfortable to do it.

‘But in the second half it was much better. We talked about it at half-time that the speed has to be much quicker, with the movement and the intention to attack the spaces and we did it much more efficiently but it wasn’t enough to score more goals.’

The defeat leaves Arsenal on just 14 points after 14 games in the Premier League.
