Martin Keown has lavished praise on Folarin Balogun after his expertly dispatched goal in Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Dundalk on Thursday.

The Gunners made it a perfect six wins from six in the Europa League group stages as they breezed through to the last-32 of the competition.

Balogun enhanced his already burgeoning reputation with a top performance after coming on as a substitute for Eddie Nketiah in the second half.

The 19-year-old displayed great strength to assist Joe Willock’s low drive and bagged his second goal in his first four Arsenal games with a superbly taken side-footed finish to add his side’s fourth of the night.

Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Keown compared the teenager’s movement to that of Arsenal legend Ian Wright and former Manchester United striker Andy Cole.

He said: ‘I’m looking at him thinking, ‘Remember the name’.

‘The way that he linked up. You try and compare, is it Andy Cole or Ian Wright, there’s that sort of movement about him. I know they’re big-name players and if he can live up to that he’s going to have some career.

‘I just like way he’s always looking on the shoulder, his movement, look at the way he’s brought three defenders in, he’s created space for Willock there to do the rest.

‘I was really impressed. The way he scores the goal, the way he comes onto it, he’s pointing, ‘Give me it’.

‘He steps onto it, ‘This is me, this is my moment and I belong here’, and I like that. He’s had to wait for his opportunity, he’s 19 years of age and already showing really good signs.’

The New York-born striker looked set to leave the club in the summer after refusing to sign a new contract, but Arteta recently admitted that talks over tying down Balogun to fresh terms have reopened.
