Bread and butter. Lennon and McCartney. Arsenal and WWE.

Some things just go together, and the Gunners continued its brilliant trend of blaring out classic wrestling theme songs during Monday night’s Premier League game against Newcastle.

Arsenal fans are used to hearing Triple H’s entrance track over the Emirates sound system, but it was former ECW legend Rob Van Dam who got the special treatment as the teams came out for the second half.

One fan wrote: ‘HUGE fan of Arsenal playing mid-2000’s WWE theme songs as the players come out for the second half. Haven’t heard RVD’s song in years!’

It’s a banger, to be fair!

Refencing RVD’s WWE theme song, another tweeted: ‘So guess this week it’s rob van dam wwe music arsenal really are one of a kind #ARSNEW#wwe (sic)’

This home game trend comes after Arsenal delighted fans by playing Kurt Angle’s signature tune during the Crystal Palace match.

The Olympic Hero himself later responded to the news, as he teased: ‘Arsenal using my theme song. The only thing missing, due to COVID, is 30,000 fans chanting “You Suck”. #YouSuckCovid #itstrue (sic)’

That in turn came just days after Arsenal – well, the person in charge of the tunes – paid an emotional tribute to Brodie Lee weeks after the late WWE and AEW star’s tragic death.

The wrestler – whose real name is Jon Huber – sadly died on December 26 from a non-Covid-related lung issue, and his AEW theme could be heard at halftime during the Gunners clash with Newcastle.

And despite Arsenal’s past love for Triple H, The Game has actually gone on record in the past and revealed he supports London rivals West Ham.

He’s even compared the Hammers to WWE itself, previously insisting: ‘West Ham is probably the closest to what we do, with the passion of their fan base and their loyalty, right? That’s the closest to what we do.’
