Emile Smith Rowe has thanked Alexandre Lacazette for his help as he continues to make an amazing impact in the Arsenal first team.

The 20-year-old Englishman impressed again on Monday night as the Gunners comfortably beat Newcastle 3-0 at the Emirates.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, while Smith Rowe set up Bukayo Saka for the second as Mikel Arteta’s men strolled to victory.

The youngster has now started five Premier League games this season, despite only making the first of those appearances on Boxing Day, but has been excellent in all.

The Gunners have won four and drawn one of those contests and much of the credit has gone to the number 10.

However, Smith Rowe was keen to thank Lacazette, who has played alongside him in the Arsenal attack and has also helped with advice off the field.

‘I feel I can’t cancel out no one, but I think Lacazette, obviously playing together with him up top,’ Smith Rowe told Sky Sports on the one teammate that has helped him most.

‘I feel like he’s helped me on and off the pitch.

‘As we link up and play together he talks to me a lot and I’d probably say he has spoke to me most on and off the pitch.’

Arteta is reaping the rewards of picking young players more regularly in recent games, with Smith Rowe and Saka leading that charge and he is clearly delighted with their displays.

‘When we are winning they put a smile on my face, I know what they are capable of doing,’ said the Arsenal boss.

‘They are developing really well, that is a merit to them, merit to their teammates and everyone that is involved in supporting them and protecting them.

‘The performances they are putting in are extraordinary.’
