New Arsenal signing Martin Odegaard has been pictured training with his new Arsenal teammates for the first time after completing his loan move from Real Madrid.

The Norway international has found first team opportunities hard to come by this season under Zinedine Zidane and has joined the Gunners until the end of the season.

Odegaard spent a productive year out on loan with Real Sociedad and had looked likely to return to the Basque club this month, before Mikel Arteta intervened and convinced him to join Arsenal instead.

After his move was confirmed on Wednesday, the 22-year-old will be in contention to face Manchester United in Saturday’s heavyweight Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Odegaard was put through is paces at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground today alongside Dani Ceballos who is closing in on his return to full fitness following a minor injury.

Ceballos is also on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the current campaign and Odegaard revealed the Spaniard only had good things to say about Arteta and the Gunners.

‘Yes, [Dani] text me the other day and he had only good things to say about the club, the manager and everything,’ Odegaard said.

‘That was also important for me and he was happy for me to come here, so that was a good thing for me, to know someone here and to hear from someone inside the club as well. It’s good.

‘It has been some hectic days but I’ve been talking to the club, to the manager and it seems like a great project and a great club.

‘I’m just so excited and when I had the chance to come here, I felt like it was a really good chance to take. So I’m really happy to be here.’
