Martin Odegaard is set to be handed the No.11 shirt once he completes his move from Real Madrid to Arsenal.

The Gunners are poised to announce their loan deal for the Norway international, who will join Mikel Arteta’s side for the remainder of the campaign.

Some Arsenal fans predicted that Odegaard could be handed Mesut Ozil’s No.10 shirt following the 32-year-old’s switch to Fenerbahce.

But Arsenal’s official club store has dropped the biggest indication yet as Odegaard’s shirt is available to purchase with the No.11.

The shirt number was vacated by Lucas Torreira last October following the Uruguayan’s loan move to Atletico Madrid.

Odegaard currently wears the No.21 at Real Madrid but that number is currently occupied by Calum Chambers, who last featured for Arsenal in December and is now on the verge of returning from injury.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday evening, Arteta revealed that the Gunners are ‘very positive’ that the deal for Odegaard will be completed.

‘I think we are pretty close but it’s not finalised it as I understand it,’ said the Arsenal boss.

‘I haven’t spoken to Edu or the club in the last few hours but we’re very positive that we’ll finalise the deal.’
