Norwich City manager Daniel Farke has issued Arsenal with a hands-off warning after Emi Buendia’s latest matchwining display for the promotion-chasing Canaries.

The Argentine midfielder impressed in the Premier League last season, despite his side’s relegation, and has continued his fine form in the Championship this term, spearheading City’s push for an instant return to the top flight.

Buendia scored the only goal during Saturday’s 1-0 win over in-form Barnsley at Carrow Road with a technically adept volley. The former Getafe player now has seven goals this season and has registered a further six assists.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to add more creativity to his side in the transfer window and is said to have personally recommended the signing of Buendia. But with the player tied to a long-term deal and Norwich four points clear at the top of the Championship, Farke believes his club are in a strong position.

He said: ‘Emi is a key player for us, an important member of the group, and he is totally committed to us. He is our player and will continue to be our player – he is on a long-term contract with the club so we keep him.

‘Everyone knows his qualities – and I don’t expect interest just because he scored a wonder goal today. He has scored a number like this for us and people know what he can do.

‘It was an excellent finish and that is what Emi can do. He instinctively knows when to make a run and then has the quality to finish like that.’

Emile Smith Rowe has occupied the No.10 position for Arsenal in recent weeks with Mesut Ozil almost certain to have played his last game for the club.

The Gunners have been linked with a loan move for Real Madrid star Isco, but Spain international is said to favour remaining in La Liga with Sevilla a potential destination.
