He may still be an Arsenal player but Mesut Ozil’s team-mates are already planning for life without the German at the Emirates.

The playmaker has agreed to cut short the remaining six months to run on his Arsenal deal in order to join Fenerbahce.

Ozil joined the club in 2013 and he took the no.10 shirt in 2018 after Jack Wilshere’s departure from the Emirates.

The playmaker had long coveted the shirt given his attacking midfield position but there will be plenty of Arsenal players gunning for the shirt now that Ozil is set to depart.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has spoken in the past about his desire to take the shirt but his strike partner, Alexandre Lacazette, is also keen.

The Frenchman took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon before any official confirmation over Ozil’s move to Turkey to confirm that he wanted the no.10 shirt.

Aludding to the fact that Aubameyang is also desperate for the shirt, Lacazette uploaded a split photo of himself and his strike partner alongside a Spiderman meme.

Lacazette captioned the post: ‘When you both want the number 10’.

However, if there’s any suggestion that there could be some awkwardness about who is awarded the shirt, captain Aubameyang quickly calmed the situation by telling Lacazette that he can take the soon-to-be vacant shirt.

‘They said they put it away 😂😂😂😂’ said Aubameyang.

‘All yours my bro.’
