Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been ruled out of the Gunners’ clash against Southampton tonight due to ‘family reasons’.

The Gabon forward missed the FA Cup defeat to the Saints on Saturday but Mikel Arteta had hoped to have the forward back in his squad for the trip to the south coast tonight.

However, Arsenal confirmed today that Aubameyang is once again ‘unavailable’ because of ‘family reasons’.

‘Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Will be unavailable for Tuesday’s match due to personal family reasons,’ a statement on Arsenal’s website read.

The exact details for Aubameyang’s absence have not been explained but Mikel Arteta said he would be given all the time necessary following Saturday’s defeat to Ralph Hasenhuttal’s men.

Elsewhere, Dani Ceballos will miss the game as the Spaniard is struggling with a calf strain.

The Real Madrid midfielder has resumed training in recent days but he’s not deemed fit enough to form part of tonight’s squad.

Arsenal are seeking to continue their recent revival in the Premier League and a win could take the club into eighth if results elsewhere go their way.

Southampton will be without full-backs Ryan Bertrand and Kyle Walker-Pieters for the game against the Gunners.
