Joan Jordan has poured cold water on rumours linking him with Arsenal and insists he’s ‘delighted’ to be playing for ‘spectacular club’ Sevilla.

Arsenal prioritised strengthening their options in attacking midfield after missing out on Lyon’s Houssem Aouar in the summer transfer window and Jordan was placed on a shortlist of January targets, along with Isco, Marcel Sabitzer, Emiliano Buendia and Martin Odegaard.

The Gunners left it late but managed to put the finishing touches on a loan agreement with Real Madrid for Odegaard before the deadline and the Norwegian has since made two substitute appearances against Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear he would be open to making Odegaard’s deal permanent if the loan is successful but it seems Madrid and Zinedine Zidane are keen for their player to return for good at the end of the campaign.

And while Arsenal may be tempted to step up their interest in Jordan once again in the summer, it appears the 26-year-old Spaniard has no plans to move on from Sevilla any time soon.

‘I do not see myself outside of Sevilla, at all,’ Jordan told El Desmarque.

‘And it is reality. The second year in Eibar I did see certain reasons to go away, but now I am in a spectacular club, with ambition, with demand and that is what my body asks for.

‘It is the ideal place to keep improving and do great things club. I am delighted to be here and my mind is here.’

Loan signing Odegaard will hope to make his full Premier League debut at home to Leeds this weekend and Thomas Partey says it’s ‘amazing’ to have the Norway international on board for the remainder of the season.

‘It’s difficult when you play against him,’ Partey told Stadium Astro.

‘I remember playing against him, he’s so intelligent, he is always quick on the ball, he doesn’t give you a chance to win the ball.

‘It’s amazing to have him here. I hope he has a great season and he’s able to help us achieve what we want to achieve.’
