Arsenal have been dealt a potential blow after loan star Martin Odegaard was forced off at half-time of Norway’s World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar.

The midfielder, who is spending the season on loan at the Emirates from Real Madrid, was captaining his country for the first time on Wednesday night but appeared to roll his ankle in the first half.

While he initially tried to play on, Odegaard signalled to the bench that he needed to be taken off and was subsequently replaced by substitute Patrick Berg at half-time.

The 22-year-old has impressed for the Gunners so far, and has refused to rule out a permanent move to north London in the summer.

‘I haven’t thought about what’ll happen in summer,’ Odegaard told VGTV reporter Arilas Ould-Saada.

‘The deal with Arsenal is until the end of season. We’ll see what happens this summer.

‘I’ve said things before that I still stand for: stability and development are key words.’
