Arsenal have entered the race to sign Nabil Fekir from Real Betis this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Mike Arteta is understood to be keen on bolstering his midfield options this summer and reports this week have claimed that Arsenal are also interested in Fekir’s teammate at Betis Guido Rodriguez.

However, Estadio Deportivo report that Arsenal are ‘very interested’ in signing Fekir this summer but the Gunners will also face competition from Barcelona.

The report also claims that Fekir could be gearing up for a move this summer as he has signed up to a new agency in Spain.

Fekir will still have two years remaining on his current contract with Betis this summer, while his buyout clause is set at €90 million (£77m).

The Spanish club paid £17.7m to sign Fekir from Lyon in the summer of 2019.

Fekir had come close to joining Liverpool from lyon for £53m in 2018.

But Jurgen Klopp’s side pulled out of the deal due to concerns over the midfielder’s knee.

Before undergoing a medical with Liverpool, Fekir had required two operations on his right knee inside the space of a year due to a cruciate ligament rupture.

‘I have no bitterness towards Liverpool,’ Fekir said of his failed switch to Liverpool.

‘I met them and we got on brilliantly. They showed that they really wanted me. But when you surround yourself with the wrong people, it comes off badly on you.’
