Arsenal are considering a move for Real Betis right-back Emerson Royal, according to reports in Spain.

Mikel Arteta convinced Hector Bellerin to stay last summer but Arsenal are now facing the prospect of losing the 26-year-old at the end of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are both interested in Bellerin, while reports have claimed that Arteta has already agreed to let the Spaniard move on this summer.

The Gunners are likely to be in the market for a new right-back this summer, and according to Mundo Deportivo, Emerson is on their shortlist.

The report claims that Arsenal scouts have been ‘closely monitoring’ Emerson’s performances and are now weighing up an offer.

The Gunners are also interested in Emerson’s teammate at Betis, Guido Rodriguez, with Arteta looking to strengthen his options in midfield.

Emerson joined Betis from Atletico Mineiro in February 2019 but the deal was in conjuction with Barcelona.

Both Barcelona and Betis agreed to pay €6 million (£5.1m) each but Emerson is only due to move to Camp Nou this summer when Barca pay their share, plus another €3m (£2.5m)

According to reports last week, new Barcelona president Joan Laporta is already planning to bring Emerson to Camp Nou at the end of the season.
