Ian Wright criticised the Arsenal players and manager Mikel Arteta after their deflating draw against Slavia Prague in the Europa League.

The Gunners appeared to be set to secure a narrow advantage in their quarter-final tie after substitute Nicolas Pepe fired the hosts ahead with a late goal at the Emirates.

But Prague responded with a dramatic injury-time equaliser through Tomas Holes to ensure the tie is finely poised at 1-1 ahead of next week’s return leg.

Arsenal missed a number of chances before the two late goals and their Europa League ambitions are now hanging in the balance.

Former striker Wright was disappointed by Arsenal’s finishing during the match and also criticised Arteta for making his changes too late.

Arsenal improved when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabriel Martinelli and Pepe all came on late on but the Gunners still endured another frustrating evening.

Reacting to the draw, Arsenal legend Wright said on social media: ‘Take the chances! Make the subs earlier! Finish the tie!’

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, said: ‘It’s difficult because they were a good opponent. They have beaten some big teams and are really difficult to play against.

‘They have a lot of man-to-man situations and you have to resolve them. When we did that, we created chances, but when you can’t, it’s not easy.

‘We were effective in our high press – they had the capacity to run in transition if they won the ball back but we controlled that well. It’s more about the final result that leaves a difficult taste.’
