Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Roberto Firmino is back for the trip to Arsenal on Saturday, but could offer little news on the string of long-term injuries in his squad.

Firmino has missed the last three games – wins over Wolves and RB Leipzig and a defeat to Fulham – with a knee injury, but has returned to training and is available for the clash with the Gunners.

There were not expected to be any other returns from injury for the Premier League champions, but Klopp could offer little else in terms of expected recovery dates for the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Joe Gomez, none of which he could confirm whether they would be fit for the European Championships or not.

‘Bobby is back,’ Klopp told a press conference of Firmino. ‘All the others not. I have no idea about the Euros, to be honest.

‘Nothing changed, so they are all in the place they should be at the moment. That’s it.

‘The rest, the time will show. They are, at the moment, in the rehab process, I deliver the news when I have it and I don’t have any at the moment.’

Pushed on the situation with club captain Henderson, who is thought likely to return from an abductor problem this month, Klopp said the midfielder can still not train, but should be able to do so soon.

‘No not really, sorry,’ the German said when asked for a Henderson update. ‘He’s not here at the moment, he cannot train, but he will train in the next days and weeks for sure. That’s how it is.

‘Nothing to say from me. I’m not a doctor or a surgeon. It’s just about time and if they time will be enough, I have no idea, but I hope so.’

The England midfielder has been out since 20 February when the Reds were beaten 2-0 by Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Arsenal have the chance to go within one point of Liverpool with a win on Saturday night, while the Reds can overtake Spurs and West Ham to go fifth with a win.
