Bukayo Saka is ‘feeling better’ after his recent injury but has not trained with the rest of the Arsenal squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with Liverpool.

Saka was taken off at half-time during the north London derby victory over Tottenham on 14 March but returned the following weekend against West Ham, playing 74 minutes of the thrilling 3-3 draw in east London.

The winger was named in Gareth Southgate’s international squad but withdrew a few days later to recover from a hamstring issue.

The Gunners welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to The Emirates on Saturday evening with Mikel Arteta providing an update on his starlet in Friday’s press conference.

‘Well he hasn’t trained with the team yet. He’s been doing some individual work we had to pull him out of the England squad, unfortunately,’ Arteta said.

‘But he’s feeling better but he hasn’t trained with the team yet.’

Emile Smith Rowe meanwhile returned from international duty with England Under-21s with a knock but will have the chance to prove his fitness ahead of the visit of Liverpool.

‘He had some discomfort in his hip that’s why they decided to keep him out,’ said Arteta.

‘I don’t know! We will see today how he comes. We will speak to the doctors and the physios to see if he’s available for training tomorrow.’
