Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka should ‘100 per cent’ be in England’s Euro 2020 squad, says Nigel Winterburn

Nigel Winterburn says he would be ‘shocked’ if Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka wasn’t involved in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020.

Southgate will announce his 26-man squad for this summer’s rescheduled tournament on May 25, just two days after the Premier League season ends on May 23.

Despite Arsenal’s inconsistency which has seen them languishing in mid-table for the majority of the season, Saka has been a rare bright spark for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Hale End academy graduate has been fielded in a variety of positions and registered five goals and three assists in England’s top flight this season.

Saka has previously earned four caps for England and missed out on the opportunity for more experience over the March international break due to injury.

The 19-year-old would be a versatile asset for Southgate given he can play at left-back, left wing-back and on the left or right wing.

And Arsenal legend Winterburn is convinced Saka should be included in the Three Lions squad for this summer’s competition.

When asked if he should make the cut, Winterburn told FreeSuperTips: ‘Easily, 100%.

‘I cannot believe that he will not be in the squad with what he has produced for Arsenal in a team that struggled.

‘He’s a player that can play left-back, left wing-back and can play on either wing.

‘We’ve also got an increased squad, so I absolutely do not see any way apart from injuries that Saka cannot be in that squad, I would be shocked.’
